Okay, so we all love a good brunch (especially here in Hong Kong), but it does create a dilemma; the outfit. I’m right there with all you ladies; wanting to look on point, but also wanting to fit in as much food and drink as physically possible (got to get our money’s worth, haven’t we). This definitely means waving goodbye to the body-con, nobody wants their food baby on show! Though we may have to take a wide berth with some outfits, it doesn’t mean we need to turn up in our casual attire, or have a Joey Tribbiani-thanksgiving-maternity pants disaster. To make it less stressful the next time you’re invited to brunch, I have put together five different looks below. All the styles vary (as do the prices), so hopefully there’s something here for everyone – I hope these looks give you some inspiration for your next brunch date.
1
Look number one combines slouchy and sexy together; the blazer can hide all kinds of sins around the stomach area, perfect for free flow champagne and buffet! The heels are also a perfect height, so you won’t look too over dressed.
Top: Nordstorm (originally a Topshop piece)
Shorts: H&M
Shoes: Topshop
Earrings: H&M
2
Look number two similarly covers all sins with a blazer. Add a pair of low mules to keep the whole look a little more casual, and you are set for brunch… just be careful with the wine near this colour!
Blazer: Nordstorm (originally a Topshop piece)
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Bag: YSL – Small Monogram
3
Look number three adds elegance to a day of gluttony. This should keep your figure flattering throughout a day of over-eating and drinking. This dress is stunning and could come in handy for many types of events!
Dress: Self Portrait
Shoes: Topshop
Bag: Furla Metropolis Clutch – available at Monnierfreres
4
Why not go for the flats option? These sandals would go perfect with this off the shoulder dress and to finish the look, add a clutch bag for a slightly more formal touch.
Dress: MLM Label – Available at Shopbop
Sandals: Chinese Laundry – Available at Nordstorm
Bag: Gucci
Earrings: H&M
5
Look number five, surprise surprise another bardot. This otherwise monochrome look would go well with a splash of colour; in this outfit it comes from the bag. Quite a number of colours that would work for this; maybe red like the Gucci beauty below, or how about a striking royal blue?
Top: H&M
Pants: Blugirl – Moda Operandi
Bag: Gucci
Watch: Larsson & Jennings
Creating these looks has been a lot of fun, though I have a feeling my bank balance might not agree – looks like I’m spoilt for choice for my next brunch date though! I hope they’ve sparked some inspiration for you ladies too, and if you are off to a brunch date soon…enjoy!
Happy Shopping Ladies
I love pieces from each outfit but overall 3 is my favourite! Given me inspiration for a maxi skirt, heels and clutch for my next brunch though.
