Bralettes have been around for the last few seasons, we have seen a lot of celebrities sporting a bralette for the past few years, Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid being some of the main culprits. This spring summer they have stayed firmly on trend, with the likes of Mui Mui, Alexandra Wang, Altuzarra and Alexandra McQueen all including them in their Spring Summer catwalk shows.
There are many ways to wear a bralette; under a sheer top, under a oversized shirt, over a shirt, or even simply as a top. Fashion I do believe should be ageless, and you should wear what you want at any age, however I believe the bralette has to be the exception! At just 24 I already feel I am too old to be wearing a bralette as a top (maybe it’s just not my style). However, I am a fan of the lacey bralette slightly on show under an oversized shirt.
For this trend trial, I decided to layer a wider, less traditional bralette over a shirt. This bralette could work over a number of tops, even a tshirt. I actually really liked how this look turned out, and I will be definitely experimenting with this bralette over more of my tops.
Overall, I personally feel the bralette trend is one worth adopting, it can really divert your wardrobe, adding a new dimension to many of your old tops.
